SUPPLY CHAIN

Plexxus offers a full range of supply chain services to its members:

Strategic Sourcing

Experienced contract negotiators provide our customers with on-going support in sourcing a wide variety of clinical and non-clinical products and services. This group is focused on developing long term relationships with suppliers in order to achieve best value in all negotiations for our customers.

Plexxus has developed several templates which we use to ensure consistency in how we go to market and negotiate agreements, such as our Request for Proposal/Quote/Information and our Product Supply Agreements.

Contract Management

Once we have negotiated an agreement, Plexxus has processes in place to ensure we properly manage them. This ensures that we are always ready to go to market in anticipation of a contract expiring. Recently we have begun the implementation of a Contract Management System, which will be rolled out to all of the hospitals in the coming months.

Purchasing

Plexxus provides transactional purchasing support to our customers, for both contract and non contract items, on a wide variety of clinical and non-clinical products and services. For the past several years we have been expanding the use of electronic requisitioning at a number of our hospitals. This process significantly reduces the amount of time spent by clinicians order non stock product. When integrated with electronic order processing, significant efficiencies are realized for all participants, from customer to supplier.

In-Hospital Logistics

The in-hospital logistics teams provide comprehensive materials handling support to our customers. They receive product into the hospital systems and distribute it internally to the patient unit or end user. They work closely with the hospital unit managers to ensure that supply cart inventory is optimized, to minimize any risk of stock outs.

Central Distribution Centre

Plexxus has a central distribution facility that provides order fulfillment and distribution services using sophisticated warehouse management systems, including RF technology. The facility operates six days per week providing just-in-time delivery to member sites, and is available on an emergency basis 24 hours per day, 365 days per year.
